Complex trauma is when someone has been repeatedly exposed to a traumatic experience over a long period of time.

Depression is when someone persistently feels sad, down, and/or have low motivation or interests in the things they would normally like doing.

Anxiety is when someone consistently feels worried, scared, or nervous. This usually stems from being afraid of something happening in the future or in anticipation of it.

Sexual trauma is when someone has experienced any sexual act that is imposed on them without their consent. This could include harassment, assault, or other forms of sexual acts.

Domestic violence is when someone experiences violent or aggressive behavior(s) within their home. This is commonly seen within romantic relationships, familial relationships, or platonic relationships.

Children of Immigrants refers to when someone grew up in a household with caregivers or guardians who identify as immigrants. This population normally experiences things like generational trauma (trauma that has been passed down through generations).

Children of Divorce refers to those who grew up as a child with guardians who were separated or divorced. This can sometimes lead to relational tension or attachment wounds.

Life transitions refers to someone who is experiencing a significant life change. This can include moving physical locations, graduation, career changes, or other life milestones.

Self-Esteem refers to someone who may be struggling with self image, self love, value themselves, care about themselves, or even taking care of themselves.

Parts Work involves utilizing Internal Family Systems (IFS) to explore and resolve internal conflicts with one’s self. This can also include allowing somene to embrace various versions of themselves.
Lotus Root Counseling serves anyone who is 18 years old or older across the state of MI with nearly a decade’s worth of experience in this field in different environments and agencies.

Within about 12 weeks, CPT is a evidence-based modality that has been proven through research to decrease trauma symptoms from a specific traumatic event through the use of thought restructuring in a trauma-informed lens.
CPT involves weekly assignments to help teach skills on how to restructure negative thoughts and having discussions about those skills with a therapist.
If you are someone who struggles with self-blame, negative beliefs about yourself, negative beliefs about the world, and/or negative beliefs about others CPT might be for you!
Types of Therapy Provided

EMDR is a evidence-based modality that focuses on desensitization traumatic memories and beliefs through the use of reprocessing. Desensitization may include helping a disturbing memory become neutral in order to access more healthy beliefs about yourself and the world.
Reprocessing includes using bilaterial stimulation (BLS) to help integrate adaptive information with past experiences. BLS can include back and forth eye movements, tapping, or other strategies.
If you are someone who has recycled behaviors/concerns that seem difficult to change due to the influence of the past, EMDR might be for you!

IFS is a distinctive approach that focuses on discovery or rediscovery of different parts in an individual, from past and current, in hopes on reintegreating each part. IFS is also known as “Parts Work” or “Ego-States Work”.
IFS can be used as an approach on its own or in combination with other modalities. It’s helpful in identifying subconscious motives or helping people get to know themselves on a deeper level in order to address any underlying trauma or unhelpful beliefs/behaviors.
If you are someone who believes something may be going on behind the scenes internally or who feels internally conflicted, IFS might be for you!
