About Me

Suong Nguyen, LMSW (she/her) is the founder of Lotus Root Counseling, LLC. She is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Michigan. Most of her clients know her as Sue.

As a clinical social worker, Sue is very passionate in supporting her clients become the best version of themselves through an empowering, empathetic, and culturally sensitive approach.

As a Vietnamese American, Sue was inspired to become a therapist since there are not many therapists who looked like her when she was growing into the world, especially in the Midwestern United States. She wants to be the therapist who can support anyone who walks into her office, especially those who look like her.

She has worked with various populations across nearly a decades worth of experience, including those who are part of the LGBTQAI+ community, the neruodivergent community, survivors of sexual violence, and survivors of domestic violence.

Sue believes in the potential of each and every person she interacts with in her office. She hopes to combine her client’s strengths with her expertise and training in order to help her client’s reach their mental health goals. She tries her best to be creative and think on her feet collaboratively with her clients to ensure that therapy is catered uniquely towards each individual.
